Clark Hunt

Assistant Professor

ABOUT ME

Dr. Laura K. Clark Hunt is a faculty member in the School of Information Studies at Louisiana State University. She has more than a decade of experience in public and academic libraries, with professional expertise in library leadership, accessibility, programming, assessment, and community engagement.

Dr. Clark Hunt began her career in public librarianship in Leon County, Florida, where her work helped shape her long-standing interest in literacy, outreach, and community-centered library services. She earned her PhD from Florida State University, where her dissertation examined emergent literacy programming in public libraries. American Libraries recognized her dissertation as one of the notable dissertations of 2017. From 2017 to 2018, Dr. Clark Hunt completed a postdoctoral appointment at the University of West Florida, where she conducted the first statewide assessment of public archaeology outreach in Florida. Her expertise in program assessment has been applied across diverse populations, age groups, and abilities, including innovative programming in nontraditional environments such as underwater programs for divemasters. She later served as a library director within the University System of Georgia and subsequently held a faculty position at The University of Southern Mississippi before joining Louisiana State University.

Dr. Clark Hunt’s research is grounded in assessment and the application of theoretical frameworks addressing contemporary issues in libraries and information organizations. Her scholarship examines how libraries can better understand, evaluate, and respond to the needs of the communities they serve. Her research interests include library assessment, information privacy, accessibility and services for people with disabilities, library management and leadership, and the application of information-behavior theory to professional practice.  She is particularly interested in collaborative and interdisciplinary research because of its potential to generate meaningful discovery, strengthen professional practice, and create broader societal impact.
